Maconaquah Triumphs in 10th Annual Cookie Cup

The 10th annual "Cookie Cup" between Maconaquah and Eastern, initiated by coaches PJ Hatcher (Maconaquah) and Andy Steele (Eastern), concluded with a decisive victory for Maconaquah. The Lady Braves, having secured the Cookie Cup for four consecutive years, triumphed again with a 75-21 win. This victory marks a 6-4 lead in the series, with the senior class—Addie Maiben, Averie Maiben, Gabby Griffis, and Eleanor Boshears—becoming the first to win the Cup every year of their high school career. The Lady Braves showcased exceptional teamwork, recording 28 field goals and 23 assists, the latter being the second-highest in school history. They also set a school record by making 15 three-pointers out of 34 attempts. Four players scored in double figures, with no one playing more than 18 minutes. The Lady Braves dominated the first quarter 26-9 and extended their lead to 51-11 by halftime. In the second half, they focused on ball control and individual development. It was a collective effort with highlights from all players. Individual Stats: Delaney Betzner: 16 points (3-8 3FG), 7 rebounds, 4 steals Averie Maiben: 15 points (5-10 3FG), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals Addie Maiben: 15 points (5-10 3FG), 3 rebounds, 2 assists Ireland Kile: 10 points, 2 assists, 3 steals Kasey Murry: 6 points (2-2 3FG), 4 rebounds, 3 assists Aubrey Stoll: 5 points, 2 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals Aubrey Kaiser: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal Gabby Griffis: 2 points, 4 rebounds Eliot Fuller: 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal Eleanor Boshears: 1 block The Lady Braves will travel to Oak Hill next Tuesday (12/9) and host Tri-Central on Thursday (12/11). Note: Senior Addie Maiben moved into third place in school history for career three-pointers made, surpassing assistant coach Madison Bailey (Wilson). Addie currently stands at 96, following Lilly Maple with 121 and leader Miranda Stoll with 137.
