Lady Braves hand Carroll Cougars their first loss of the season.

The Carroll Cougars entered Maconaquah on a 9-game winning streak, boasting a season record of 9-0. However, the night concluded with the Cougars at 9-1, as the Lady Braves secured a 61-45 victory. Both teams engaged in a physical match that promises to benefit them throughout the season. The first quarter ended with the Lady Braves leading 11-10, capitalizing on defensive breakdowns for easy points. In the second quarter, the Lady Braves intensified their defense, forcing turnovers that led to quick baskets. Four players contributed to the scoring, with Ireland Kile leading with 6 of her 16 points, and Kasey Murry adding 4 of her career-high 14 points. Aubrey Stoll scored 7 points, and Gabby Griffis also contributed. The Lady Braves led 30-18 at halftime. During halftime, Coach Davis emphasized improving offensive details while praising the defense for limiting the Cougars to 18 points. The third quarter saw the Braves outscore the Cougars 13-9, extending their lead to 43-27. Kasey Murry excelled, going 4-4 from the free-throw line. In the final quarter, both teams increased their physicality. The Braves capitalized on free throws, making 7 of 8, while maintaining their lead. Both teams scored 18 points in this quarter. The Lady Braves next game is this Thursday, against Peru. The Lady Braves will be honoring different teachers/staff that night right after the JV in their annual Teacher/Staff Appreciation Night. JV game is set to tipoff at 6:00 pm.
