Varsity vs Logansport High School Braves lost to Logansport and fall to 0-4. Coach Burrus Quotes:" I am really proud of the effort of our kids at Logansport. We knew coming into the game that Logan had some major advantages. They were at home, they had a huge frontline, and experienced guards. Our team went out and controlled the first quarter. We had great preparation for Logan. This group really dug in on defense. We also had 15 assists for the game. We also produced 13 steals. These guys really locked up Logan for major stretches of this game. Probably the biggest improvement was making Logan play some defense. We are becoming more comfortable keeping the ball for awhile. We started two freshmen. Levi Merritt really battled the big kids of Logan down low. He was giving up several inches, and experience but he made life very difficult for the inside guys for Logan. Levi has also done a great job of taking care of the ball. His turnovers are very low. He can rebound with the big boys! Jaxon Cole got his first start. He responded with 6 assists, and played solid defense. He also added 4 rebounds. Jack Gochenour led us with 29 points. Jack added 5 steals. Caiden Richards had 10 points and really played well with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Cohen Helmuth came off the bench to hit some big shots. He ended with 15 points. Great night for him. He shot the ball very well. I wanted to talk a little bit about Marcell Sims. He came out this year and has really gave us some toughness down low. Marcell finds the open man but he can guard anywhere on the court. He also can guard any player. I really like how he has blended with this team. He improves every game. He has been a real stabilizer of our defense. We are playing our first home game Tuesday, vs Oak Hill. They are one of the top teams in 2A. We appreciated the support we have felt in these four road games. We are coming home to play one of the best teams on our schedule. See you, Tuesday.
