Varsity vs North Miami Middle/High School The Braves got their first win of the season. Record is 1-6. Coach Burrus Quotes:"After a tough loss to Caston this group put together a tremendous defensive effort. This was highlighted by holding North Miami to 4 points in the second quarter. Outscoring North Miami 20-12 in the 4th quarter was a big finish for us. I thought our defense was a big key and I thought Levi Merritt showed his improvement in this game. Levi scored 21 points. This breakout game was great for our team to win this game. He made 4 three point shots, and had 3 rebounds. His three late in the 4th quarter was a clutch play for us. I also wanted to mention Jaxon Cole. He came off the bench to play great defense and had4 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal. I thought a big key was our defense was really good after getting down 15-3. We were able to switch defenses effectively in the 2nd half. I thought every player had the right approach on defense. We really put good pressure on the ball and really tried to keep North Miami out of their offense. Jack Gochenour scored 35 against Caston, and followed up with 22 against North Miami. He shot 31 free throws in the tournament. Our kids played a really good two games. We are young but very determined. Marcell Sims was giving up big inches inside. He ended with 7 rebounds. He is battling these big kids. Treson Ambrose had 5 big rebounds. He has been attacking the glass. The whole team earned this first win.
