Varsity vs Hamilton Heights High School Braves fall to 2-11 with this loss. Coach Burrus Quotes:"We gave a good Hamilton Heights team a good battle for most of this game. We played a great defensive first half. We held Heights to 27 points, and that included a three at the halftime buzzer. Cold shooting continues to be our biggest issue. We were down 27-21 at halftime. With 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter we had it down to 35-30. We then gave up a 10-0 run that got the lead to 45-30. We played Hamilton Heights even the rest of the game. We can't afford these lapses when we are playing these good teams. I like our defense, overall. We are figuring a lot of things out. We need to rebound better, and turn rebounds into offense. Some areas we will look to improve this week are shot selection, getting to the next job, and improving our fast break. We are playing better for longer stretches. I really love the effort from our team. These guys have put a lot into this season. Our practices have continued to be good and everyone is working to make each other, better. We aren't happy with our record, but these guys have practiced and prepared like we are undefeated. I think back to Taylor when we were down around 20 at halftime. With the way Hamilton Heights can score and defend, we could have been buried by them. These kids have made progress. It has not resulted in lots of wins but we are seeing improved team play. I also wanted to thank everyone who came out Saturday night. We had the little cheerleaders, and the alumni band. These are both great traditions at Maconaquah. This week we have a home girls /guys doubleheader, vs Cass. The girls are celebrating Senior Night. Let's come out and get behind these programs."
