Varsity vs Northfield Jr-Sr High School Braves improve to 3-16. 1-6 in the TRC. Coach Burrus Quotes:"We started this game getting down 8-0. From that point forward we outscored Northfield 65-42. We really found some offense in this game. Jack Gochenour scored 28pts and went over 400 points, as a sophomore. He is scoring at a pace that very few Sophomores reach. Jack may be leading Indiana, going from 1.4ppg to over 22ppg. He has had 12 games over 20 points. He also has had games of 35, and 32. Caiden Richards had a great game. He scored 16 points, and hit 3, three's. He had a move before halftime where he beat his man, stepped around the help, hung in the air, and then scooped it in. Sweet move! One big part of this game was stopping the Holmes kid from Northfield. He got 32 points on us but he had around 15 early in the 2nd quarter. We went to a defense where we put a man in front of the post, and one behind him. We had five different players play this role. Jaxon Cole, Treson Ambrose, Brody Kubly, Cohen Helmuth, with Marcell Sims behind him. There were two parts to this defense. The guys guarding the post, and the three guarding the perimeter. The three guys on the perimeter had to guard four guys. They produced 13 steals. It was a team effort. After giving up 20 points the first quarter we held Northfield to 30 points the rest of the game. I was excited with the effort and execution our kids put into the defense. I had told Marcell Sims I wanted him to look to score, more. He went 4 for 4 on the night. Marcell has really battled for us this year. He has made progress every game he plays. We have a tough weekend playing at Manchester, Friday. We have Senior Night on Saturday Night for Caiden Richards. We will play Plymouth. We will celebrate Caiden after the game. He will speak and so will players and coaches on his behalf.
