April 9, 2026 – The Maconaquah Lady Braves track and field team delivered a highly successful season opener on Thursday, demonstrating depth and competitive spirit in a meet against Oak Hill. The meet concluded with a final score of Oak Hill 101 and Maconaquah 31. Leading the charge for the Lady Braves was Delight Pier, who secured first-place finishes in both the 100y hurdles (18.35) and the 300y hurdles (50.97). Pier’s dominance on the track was complemented by her performance in the field, where she placed third in the pole vault by clearing 7'6". Several other Lady Braves contributed significantly to the scoring. Ani Osornio took second place in the 100y hurdles with a time of 19.00, while Macie McManus finished third in the 300y hurdles (58.28). In the sprints, Molly Berryman earned a second-place finish in the 100y dash (13.19), followed by Evelyn Hanson in third (13.46). Hanson also excelled in the long jump, achieving a best mark of 14'9.25". Zoie Laber added a third-place finish in the 400y dash with a time of 1:05.19. Chloe Jordan added to the score with second place finishin the 1600 meter (5:56 ) and third place finish 800 meter (2:35) In the field events, Lillian Resler led the way in the shot put with a throw of 25'6", and Chloe Beitz cleared 6'6" to take fourth in the pole vault. Arabella Seymoure also placed fourth in the discus with a best throw of 61'2". The relay teams showcased personal success rates with several personal records set during their season opener. The Lady Braves displayed teamwork of the entire meet. Both the 4x800m relay team (Jordan, Berry, McManus, and Laber) and the 4x400m relay team (Thoden, Jordan, Pier, and Laber) secured impressive second-place finishes. Additionally, the 4x100m relay team of Sullivan, Seymoure, Fruth, and Ousley finished third with a time of 1:03.40. Next week will be busy with meets on Tuesday 4/14 (@ Northwestern), Thursday 4/16(@ Maconaquah), and Saturday 4/18 (Big Orange @ Hamilton Heights). Come out and cheer on your Braves!
