Maconaquah Lady Braves Brave the Elements at 2026 Big Orange Invitational

On a Saturday defined as much by the biting Indiana wind as the stiff competition, the Maconaquah Lady Braves track and field team proved their mettle at the Big Orange Invitational on April 18, 2026. Battling plummeting temperatures and gusty conditions, the Lady Braves kept their wits about them, securing a series of top-8 finishes across sprinting, distance, and field events. Despite the harsh weather, the team’s resilience was on full display as they faced off against a deep field of competitors. The following Maconaquah athletes demonstrated exceptional focus to earn scoring positions for the team: Top-8 Finishers & Standout Performances Sprints & Hurdles Molly Berryman showed incredible speed in the 100 Meter Dash, battling the wind to take 7th Place with a time of 13.69 and 4th in the 200 Meter Dash ( 28.98) Zoie Laber powered through the 400 Meter Dash, earning a 8th Place finish in 1:10.39. In the 100 Meter Hurdles, Delight Pier stayed technical in the breeze to grab 6th Place (19.07). She secured a 4th Place spot in the 300 Meter Hurdles ( 54.89) Ani Osornio, also exemplified in the in the 100 Meter Hurdles, snagging 8th Place (19.19) Distance Chloe Jordan showcased remarkable stamina in the 1600 Meter Run, taking 4th Place with a time of 5:50.84. Macie McManus also put up a strong fight in the 1600 Meter Run, finishing 9th Place in 6:27:67. Relay Success The 4x100 Meter Relay team (J.Sullivan, A.Osornio, E.Hanson, M.Berryman) displayed excellent chemistry, taking 4th Place with a time of 56.09. The 4x400 Meter Relay team (D.Peir, M.McManus, C.Jordan, Z.Laber) closed out the day with a time of 4:32:10 and 2nd place finish. "The weather was a factor for everyone today, but our girls didn't let it become an excuse," said the coaching staff. "To see them jump, throw, and run with that level of intensity in these conditions shows exactly what kind of character this team has." The Lady Braves look to carry this momentum—and hopefully some warmer weather—into their upcoming matchups.
