Maconaquah Lady Braves Show Strength in Dual Against Southwood

The Maconaquah Lady Braves traveled to Southwood on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, delivering a powerhouse performance across all event disciplines. From dominant sprinting to a sweep in the jumps, the Lady Braves displayed the depth of their roster as they navigate the mid-season stretch. Berryman and Pier Lead the Charge The sprints and hurdles saw Maconaquah athletes taking top honors. Molly Berryman was a dual-threat on the track, capturing 1st Place in both the 100-meter dash (13.50) and the 200-meter dash (28.70). She was supported in the 100m by Abigail Freese, who took 3rd (16.10), and in the 200m by Evelyn Hanson, who also secured a 3rd-place finish (30.60). Delight Pier mirrored that dominance in the hurdles, sweeping both the 100m Hurdles (18.60) and the 300m Hurdles (52.40). The hurdle crew showed impressive depth with Jalynn Sullivan (20.60) and Ani Orsonio (21.20) taking 2nd and 3rd in the 100m event, while Macie McManus secured 2nd in the 300m hurdles (56.70). Distance and Middle Distance Excellence In the distance events, Chloe Jordan led the way with a 1st-place finish in the 1600m run (6:27.20). June Schrock proved her versatility, taking 2nd in both the 800m (3:22.00) and the 1600m (7:26.20). Jade Christopher added to the tally with a 3rd-place finish in the 800m (4:20.10), and Aleahya Thoden notched a Personal Record (PR) in the 400m dash with a time of 1:07.50. Field Events: Jumps Domination and Strong Throws The Lady Braves completely dominated the Long Jump pit, sweeping the top three spots: 1st Place: Isabel Fruth (11' 3.75") 2nd Place: Nekane Hernandez (11' 2.25") 3rd Place: Lola Marin Alcaraz (10' 2.5") In the High Jump, Jalynn Sullivan took 1st place, clearing the 4-foot mark. Sullivan also showed her range in the throwing ring, taking 3rd in Discus (69' 4"). Kayla Dauenhauer led the throwers with a pair of 2nd-place finishes in both Shot Put (25' 6.5") and Discus (72' 3"), followed by Lily Resler who took 3rd in Shot Put (22' 4"). Relay Results Maconaquah’s relay teams all secured 2nd-place finishes in highly competitive races: 4x100m (53.20): J. Sullivan, M. Berryman, A. Osornio, E. Hanson 4x400m (4:37.90): D. Pier, C. Jordan, A. Thoden, M. McManus 4x800m (11:31.30): Z. Laber, C. Jordan, I. Berry, M. McManus Looking Ahead The Lady Braves are enjoying a slightly slower competition schedule this week, utilizing the time to sharpen their skills for a busy upcoming week. The team will return to action on Monday, April 27, for JV competitions against Rochester, followed by the highly anticipated Northwestern Relays on Tuesday, April 28.
