The Maconaquah Lady Braves track and field team traveled to Lewis Cass on Tuesday for a high-energy dual meet, putting their depth and technical skill on full display. In a performance marked by several event victories and a dominant showing in the distance and hurdle disciplines, the Lady Braves proved to be a formidable force on the road. Hurdle Sweep and Sprints The hurdles proved to be the most successful area of the night for Maconaquah, led by a stellar performance from Delight Pier. Pier secured a "double-gold" evening, taking 1st Place in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Teammate Ani Osornio added to the scoring with a solid 3rd Place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. In the sprints, Evelyn Hanson was a workhorse for the Braves, scoring in three different individual events. Hanson took 3rd Place in the 100-meter dash and a gritty 2nd Place in the 200-meter dash. Isabel Fruth followed closely in the 200-meter, securing 3rd Place to give Maconaquah a double-podium finish in the event. Distance Domination The Lady Braves’ distance crew put on a clinic of endurance, highlighted by a massive victory in the 3200-meter run by Macie McManus. McManus’s win was supported by a string of silver-medal performances across the middle-distance events: Chloe Jordan took 2nd Place in a fast 1600-meter run. June Schrock secured 2nd Place in the 800-meter run. Zoie Laber sprinted to a 2nd Place finish in the 400-meter dash. Field Events and Relays Maconaquah’s field athletes demonstrated their versatility, scoring critical points in the jumps and throws: Evelyn Hanson showcased her explosive power with a 2nd Place finish in the Long Jump. In the rings, Jalynn Sullivan threw for 2nd Place in the Discus, while Lillian Resler earned 3rd Place in the Shot Put. The relay teams capped off the night with two impressive 2nd Place finishes, demonstrating the teamwork that has become a hallmark of the 2026 season. The 4x800m team (Jordan, Laber, Schrock, McManus) and the 4x400m team (Laber, Jordan, Fruth, Pier) both fought through tough Lewis Cass lineups to secure their spots on the podium. "Going into an opponent's track and performing this well shows the character of this team," said the Maconaquah coaching staff. "From Macie’s win in the 3200 to Delight’s sweep of the hurdles, our girls are competing with a high level of confidence right now." The Lady Braves will look to carry this momentum back home as they prepare for their upcoming invitational schedule.
