The Maconaquh Braves took part in the Three Rivers Conference golf tournament this Saturday at Round Barn Golf Club. Leading the Braves was senior Camron Metcalf with an 89. Camron started on the most challenging holes on the course (hole seven and eight) and it led to a rough start. After a short rain delay he came back and parred the ninth hole and began to settle down. A bad break late in the round when a defective ball flew way off line cost him some strokes later, but he was able to finish under 90 for the day. Sophomores JT Dobbs and Jayden Overdorf both shot 90 respectively. JT couldn’t get any putts to fall and that led to a long string of bogies. Jayden Overdorf got off to an extremely hot start making two birdies early to be even par through six. Unfortunately the rain delay stopped his momentum and when the round resumed he struggled with his short game leading to some high scores. Junior Zach Duke also had a challenging start but was able to calm down and play consistent golf the rest of the way. A bad break on his last hole led to an untimely double bogey to end his day with a 93. Freshman Colt Myers, playing in his first conference tournament, had a rough first nine with a 51. Showing maturity beyond his years, he was able to regroup and shoot a 44 on his last nine. Overall the Braves finished with a season low 362, good enough for 5th place and only a few strokes behind 4th place Rochester. Thank you to the Round Barn staff for being such a great host and Northfield AD Chris Oswalt for running such a smooth tournament despite the rain and delay. The Braves are back in action Tuesday versus Peru, Lewis Cass and Zionsville at Rock Hollow. The Braves appreciate the support of the parents, family and friends that come out to support the team.
