With two varsity players unavailable to play, the Lady Braves of the Maconaquah Golf Team started the season this past Saturday at the Logansport Invite at Dykeman Park Golf Course. Senior Aubrey Stoll’s round did not get off to the start she hoped as she found herself at five over par after four holes after some errant drives. Showing her point guard style grit, she bombed a long drive off the fifth tee, made a routine two putt par. She then almost drove the par four sixth hole which lead to a tap in birdie putt. She played the rest of the front nine even par. She had some trouble on the back nine when a well struck tee shot on the par three twelfth hole carried the green and rolled into a water hazard. That misfortunate led to a double bogey. Aubrey was able to refocus and play her next three holes in even par and finished her round with an 82. Her final score earned her a tie for fifth place in the strong field and was a 13 shot improvement from her score in the same tournament last year. Senior Delaney Duke did not have the day she hoped as her driver was not consistent. Despite her driver woes, she hit solid irons as evidence by playing the three par threes in only one over par on the back nine. She also impressed by hitting wedges high over trees on two occasions landing her ball softly on the green. Her final tally of 107 was as two shot improvement from the previous year. Junior Delaney Farnham hit the ball well off the tee on Saturday, but struggled around the greens. Delaney’s nerves may have got to her early in the round, but late in the round she did well making two bogeys in a row on challenging holes and hitting a tremendous drive on the fifteenth hole. Her final score of 122 was a 10 shot improvement from last year. The Lady Braves posted no team score as there were only three players. The Lady Braves are back in action Monday at Kokomo Country Club as they play the Kokomo High School Wildkats. The Lady Braves appreciate the support of all the parents, family and friends that come out and support the team. Photos: Aubrey Stoll with the top finisher and with her medal.
