NORTH MANCHESTER, IN – The Maconaquah Braves cross country team braved challenging early-fall elements at the Manchester Invitational, taking on a tough field while battling heavy downpours and thick humidity across both divisions. Despite the elements, the Braves delivered gutty performances, highlighted by three personal bests on the boys' side. Boys' Race: Navigating Heavy Rain to Earn Three PRs Midway through the men’s race, the skies opened up, forcing the boys to navigate a sudden deluge and slippery trail conditions. Sophomore Abel Robinson paced the Braves once again, clocking an impressive 18:37 to lead the team through the downpour. Senior Jacob Bowman posted a sharp 21:27, closely followed by junior Auggie Higgins, who crossed the line with a personal-record time of 21:39. Freshman Cory Hayes and junior Hunter Jenkins also mastered the mud, each shattering their previous bests with PR performances of 21:55 and 23:13, respectively. Girls' Race: Pushing Through Heavy Humidity The Maconaquah ladies faced their own battle against severe, heavy humidity, putting together resilient efforts across the board. Junior Macie McManus set the pace for the girls with a strong finish of 23:20. Sophomore June Schrock trimmed time off her previous outing to finish in 25:19, while sophomore Ellie Higgins pushed through the thick air to complete the course in 29:20.
