Another Shutout for Braves' Soccer

By Jonathan Cole | Sep 9, 2026 8:45 PM

The MHS Boy’s Soccer team hosted Blackford to notch their 5th win of the season, blanking the Bruins 5-0. The Braves possessed the ball most of the match but were kept off the score sheet until about halfway into the 1st half. The scoring started after the Bruins’ GK blocked a Jaxon Cole shot from the top of the box before Joe Manueles was able to track down the rebound, make a move around a defender and play the ball back to Jaxon. The ball glanced off Cole’s foot and was headed into the goal by Diego Jimenez. The second goal came off a Colton Beebe corner kick that was knocked into the goal by Joel Loshnowsky. The third goal and final goal of the half was a solo banger from the 18 off the right foot of Diego Jimenez. Second half scoring started with freshmen Martin Chaires making a move through defenders before booting it in with his left foot. The last goal of the match came off a beautiful corner kick by Kamarious Armstrong which was popped up by the goalie before Diego Midence-Soto skied in with another header for the Braves. Coach Wilhelm said, “We controlled the ball well tonight. Huge game with a focus on possessing the soccer ball” Coach Sparks said, “I didn’t know Diego could jump that high. His hang time reminded me of a young MJ.” “MVPs of the Match” – Diego X2. DJ with two goals playing aggressive on the offensive end and Big D getting his first varsity goal on a header in the box. The Braves move to 5-1 and head to Logansport on Saturday at 1 pm to take on the Berries (late addition to the Braves’ schedule).
