Maconaquah Schools

Senior captain Aubrey Stoll turned in the best round of her high school career Wednesday night, firing a 37 to lead the Maconaquah Lady Braves in a three-way meet at Dykeman Park. Stoll opened her round with three straight pars before catching fire. She followed with three consecutive birdies, moving to three-under par through six holes. Her momentum was slowed when a tee shot on the seventh came to rest behind a tree, and missed short putts on each of the final two holes kept the round from going even lower. Despite the late challenges, Stoll finished with a career-low 37, good for second place overall. Peru’s Piercey Dyer earned medalist honors with a 36. Junior Delaney Farnham was second for the Lady Braves with a 59. Farnham has been battling a slice with her driver, and several tee shots left her in difficult positions. Despite those challenges, she battled throughout the round and grinded out a solid score on Dykeman’s challenging front nine. Senior Delaney Duke returned to action after being unable to play or practice for nearly a week because of rain, heat, and illness. Despite the layoff, Duke battled her way to a 62, the third-best score for Maconaquah. Sophomore Brina Smith continues to show tremendous improvement in her long game. Smith consistently hit strong drives and approach shots that finished near or pin-high to the greens. The biggest challenge came around Dykeman’s quick, sloping greens, where chipping and putting proved difficult. She finished with a 65 to round out the Lady Braves’ scoring. Maconaquah finished with a team score of 223, defeating Peru’s 231 while falling to a strong Logansport squad, which posted a 175. The Lady Braves won’t have much time off, as they return to action Thursday night at the Leaning Tree Girls Invitational.
