Maconaquah Schools

The Lady Braves played host to conference foe Northwestern Thursday. After some technical issues forced the match to be played in the lower gym, Maconaquah took control of the match and won in three sets 25-13, 25-12, 25-19. Our girls kept the pressure on the Lady Tigers with our serves and attacks and we were able to score points in bunches. Northwestern didn't really have an answer for us at the net and our serves were putting them out of system. The win puts us at 12-2 and 4-0 in TRC play on the season. Delaney Betzner ran the Maconaquah offense with 31 assists and had 19 digs on defense. Kasey Murry(13 kills) and Ireland Kile(11 kills) were our leaders in kills with Murry serving six aces. Fellow OH Lucee Jernagan had five kills and also served up six aces to lead the team in serving. Murry added 15 digs and Kile saved 14 points with a dig. Aubrey Kaiser dug up 10 balls for the Braves from the Right side. The JV team came away with a three set victory 15-25, 25-14, 15-8. The JV had a rough start in the first and second sets until Freshman Abbie Pearce served 15 straight points to take control of the second set. The girls used that momentum to take the second set and ride that wave into the third set and victory. A special shout out to our Athletic Department, custodians, support staff, and even our student body who all came together to move our operation to the lower gym and make our match possible. I was really proud of our school and of how we adapted to a tough situation. As coaches we talk about how sports help us learn to adapt and problem solve and this was a real life situation that exemplifies those attributes. Way to go Braves! The Lady Braves are at Rossville Saturday for the Rossville Invite. We play Pioneer the first match at 9 am.
