Braves and Berries End in a Tie

By Jonathan Cole | Sep 12, 2026 4:49 PM

The Braves made a rare soccer trip to Logansport to take on the Berries Saturday afternoon. Despite the Braves being down two starters due to injury, they were able to put up a strong effort against a talented Logansport team with the match ending in a 2-2 tie. The teams had a unique start to the game, exchanging successful penalty kicks knotting the score at 1-1 halfway through the 1st half. Approximately one minute after Joe Manueles scored the Braves’ PK, he found the back of the net once again off of a Joel Loshnowsky free kick from midfield. The Berries were able to score on a 2nd half breakaway for the final goal of the game. (Note: There is no shootout or overtime played in non-conference games.) The schools played a Junior Varsity half after the Varsity game, which ended in a 2-0 Logansport victory. Coach Wilhelm said, “I was happy with our performance on another hot day. The heat and playing on grass (rather than turf) slowed us down a little bit, but we were able to match Logansport’s intensity and come away with a tie. Also, nobody likes ties.” Coach Sparks was unavailable for comment. “MVPs of the Match” – Joe Manueles scoring both goals for the Braves and Brody Kubly with a nice day at goalkeeper in his first game back from injury. The 5-1-1 Braves return to action as they travel to Western on Monday.
