The Lady Braves took on the Southwood Lady Knights in TRC action Tuesday night. We put up a good fight but lost in three sets (8-25, 19-25, 11-25). The Braves are now 14-5 (4-1 TRC) on the season. The JV team went down in two sets (12-25, 16-25). The first set had the Braves off to a slow start, and they struggled to score against the stout Southwood defense. We picked up some momentum heading into the second set. We were able to keep it close but could not make plays at the end of the set. The third set saw us start slowly again. Some serving and passing struggles allowed Southwood to make service runs, and we could not keep up with their powerful attacks. Ireland Kile and Kasey Murry both downed seven kills each with Kile having three blocks and Murry having five digs. Lucee Jernagan had three kills and four digs, and Setter Delaney Betzner tossed 17 assists and five digs. Aubrey Kaiser dug up nine balls and led the team with 18 serve receptions. Libero Naomi Cook dug up five balls from the back row. In the JV match, Ava Shively had three kills and Ryleigh Marburger had five digs and seven assists. The Lady Braves travel to Western Thursday for our next match.
