Maconaquah Schools

Maconaquah senior Aubrey Stoll closed the regular season with the best round of her career. Stoll carded an even-par 36 with three birdies Wednesday on the back nine at Etna Acres Golf Course, earning medalist honors and leading the Lady Braves to a four-way victory. Maconaquah finished with a 204, tying its season-low nine-hole team score. The Braves topped North Miami (218), Southwood (230) and Wabash (232) and finished the regular season with a 12-5 record in meets. Stoll’s 36 marked a new career low and gave Maconaquah a strong start at the top of the lineup. Her three birdies helped offset a few mistakes and allowed her to finish the round at even par. She birdied the first hole she played, the par five 10th and the last hole after driving the green on the par four. Junior Delaney Farnham also produced a career-best performance, shooting a career-low 54. One of the highlights came immediately by two putting the 18th hole from 55 feet. Then on the long par-5 10th hole, where Farnham made par. She used that start to put together one of her most consistent rounds of the season. Senior Delaney Duke also shot a 54. Duke continued to show impressive distance off the tee, regularly putting herself in strong positions. This included driving with in 20 years or less on many par fours. Trouble around the greens kept the score from dropping lower. Sophomore Brina Smith finished with a 60. Smith struck the ball well and continued to compete on every shot, showing the steady improvement she has made throughout the season. Sophomore Evelyn Hanson rounded out Maconaquah’s lineup with a 66. Hanson entered the meet coming off a career-low round and faced the challenge of trying to follow that performance with another solid outing. With Stoll and Farnham both setting career lows and the team matching its best nine-hole score of the season, Maconaquah will enter sectional play with momentum. The Lady Braves appreciate the support of the parents, family and friends that come out and support the team. The Lady Braves return to action Friday, Sept. 18, at the IHSAA Western Sectional at Chippendale Golf Course.
