7th VB 7th Grade vs North Miami Middle/High School (1 - 2) Loss Tonight, the Lady Braves took on county rival North Miami, and this was easily the most entertaining match of our season so far! Final Score: Set 1: North Miami 26 — Maconaquah 24 Set 2: Maconaquah 25 — North Miami 23 Set 3: North Miami 18 — Maconaquah 16 With the win-by-two rule in effect, this match was truly point for point from beginning to end. There was no room to relax, and neither team was willing to give an inch! We saw some of our longest rallies of the season, multiple three-hit combinations, great saves, and some seriously exciting volleyball. Watching the girls keep a rally alive, transition, and send the ball back with purpose was so much fun to watch. Our service game wasn't quite as consistent as it has been lately, and unfortunately, those missed opportunities made a difference in a match this close. But despite that, the girls continued to battle. We dropped the first set 24–26, fought back to win the second 25–23, and then took the third set all the way to 16–18 before North Miami finally closed it out. That's how close this match was. 24–26. 25–23. 16–18. Three sets. Nearly every point earned the hard way. And a team that refused to quit. We may not have gotten the outcome we wanted tonight, but THIS is the kind of volleyball I love watching these girls play. The growth from where we started this season — and especially from their 6th grade year — continues to show. Tonight wasn't about an easy win. It was about competing. And these girls absolutely competed.
