The Maconaquah Braves cross country team brought competitive drive and sharp execution to the legendary course at Culver Military Academy on Saturday, September 26. Facing off against a talented, multi-state field, the Braves delivered standout performances across both divisions, highlighted by a top-20 medal finish on the boys' side and strong individual races from the returning Lady Braves. Boys’ Division: Robinson Secures 19th-Place Finish to Lead the Braves Sophomore Abel Robinson paced the Maconaquah men once again, executing a tactical race on Culver's sweeping terrain. Robison surged into the pack early and held strong down the stretch to cross the line in 18:04, earning 19th place overall in a deep varsity field. Senior Jacob Bowman turned in a solid performance behind him, stopping the clock at 21:31. Junior Auggie Higgins finished right on Bowman’s heels just three seconds later with a time of 21:34. Junior Hunter Jenkins (23:27) and freshman Cory Hayes (23:55) rounded out the varsity effort with steady, determined runs to complete the team score. Girls’ Division: Lady Braves Rejoin Action with Strong Individual Outings After taking time to recover from injuries, the Lady Braves returned to the course with high energy and gritty efforts. Freshman Macie McManus set the pace for the women, crossing the line in an impressive 23:02. Sophomore June Schrock posted a strong 24:36 finish, while sophomore Ellie Higgins pushed through the line at 30:40 to complete a welcome return to competition for the team.
