The Braves secured another TRC victory while hosting the Manchester Squires on Monday night. The scoring wasn’t as abundant as the Braves had hoped for, but they controlled the majority of the contest with a final score of 2-0. The Braves finally got on the scoreboard with just 4 minutes left in the first half when Joel Loshnowsky knocked in a Colton Beebe corner kick. The boys were able to squeeze in a second goal a short time later after Luis Mendoza found Joe Manueles in the middle of the box. Joe dribbled past the final Squire defender and popped it up over the goalie’s head and into the goal. Brave defenders played well as Manchester had very few scoring opportunities in the match, making it an easy day in goal for Brody Kubly. Coach Wilhelm said, “Good day for another conference win. I’m happy with our possession for the most part, but sloppy passes and poor decisions at times derailed some scoring opportunities.” Coach Sparks added, “Our defense played pretty solid not letting Manchester have any real chance at scoring. We’re going to try something a little different in the offensive third in our final game before sectionals to try to get some more goals on the board.” “MVPs of the Match” – The defensive line made up of Gideon Pier, Levi Merritt, Joel Loshnowsky, and a mixture of Beebe boys – calmly controlling the back line and squelching any scoring opportunity. The Braves move to 10-2-1 on the season and host the Peru Tigers on Wednesday night at 6 pm for the final regular season match. Come out and support the team for SENIOR NIGHT.
