Maconaquah Schools

The Lady Braves travelled to Whitko for our final road conference match of the season. After a slow start in set one, the Braves were able to win the last three sets to win the match and move to 7-1 in conference play. The Braves struggled to put the ball away against Whitko's scrappy defense. This led to a slew of hitting errors throughout the match. Tied one set a piece, we were down at the end of set three and made some remarkable plays to win the set. Using the momentum from winning the previous set and the energy from our bench and fans, we were able to control the game and finish off the match three sets to one. When asked about how the team accomplished this road win, Senior Kasey Murry said, "Determination. We knew we weren't having the best night, but we lifted each other up, tried to feed whoever was hot, and understood that we only have so many games left. And after that five of us will be done with high school volleyball. Why waste them not having fun and not playing like a team? Also our bench and JV team behind the bench lifts up our energy. I think this team is a very special team on and off the court. And when it comes down to it we take care of business because we want to make the most of our season." The JV team lost a tight first set before winning set two. Ultimately the JV Braves fell in set three. They were led by Bailei Boggs with four kills and Brinley Meyer with nine digs. Ryleigh Marburger had 12 assists on the match. Ireland Kile led the Braves attack with 11 kills and 21 digs. OH's Kasey Murry and Lucee Jernagan both floored ten kills for the Braves. Freshman Middle Bailei Boggs downed five kills and had three blocks. Libero Naomi Cook dug up 19 balls and Aubrey Kaiser had 17 digs. Setter Delaney Betzner had her usual stellar all around match with 27 assists and 22 digs. Maconaquah moves to 20-7 (7-1 TRC) on the season with three matches left. Our final conference match of the year is this Thursday against Northfield. Note: There will be only one set played in the JV match due to low numbers at Northfield. This means the varsity match will start at approximately 6:45. Come cheer us on!
