Lady Braves Survive and Advance with Sectional Win Over Lewis Cass

By Jason Watson | Oct 15, 2026 10:52 PM

The Lady Braves traveled to Rochester Thursday for the opening round of Sectional #38. Maconaquah scored a sweep of Lewis Cass (25-17, 25-12, 25-18). The Braves improved their record to 24-7 on the season. The beginning of the match saw Lewis Cass come out and play scrappy and keep it close for the first half of the set. Our serving began to create problems for their offense, and we were able to capitalize and take control to take the first set. We controlled the second set and kept our errors to a minimum. Set three had us miss a few serves, and Cass picked up their fight to keep it relatively close. The ladies in blue kept the pressure on and it was too much in the end for Cass. Overall, we played well, but we know there are some things we need to clean up to win on Saturday. When asked about the win, Senior Lucee Jernagan said, "We all had great communication and amazing energy to secure a great sectional win!" Junior Naomi Cook also said, "We had a lot of energy, and we played scrappy." Setter Delaney Betzner ran the Braves offense and dished out 28 assists and 10 digs. Ireland Kile led the attack with 15 kills and dug up eight balls on defense. Kasey Murry tallied nine kills and eight digs playing all around from the OH position. Lucee Jernagan and Aubrey Kaiser added four kills each, with Kaiser digging up 11 balls to lead the Lady Braves defense. Junior Naomi Cook dug up 10 balls from back row and served four aces. The Lady Braves travel to Rochester again Saturday morning, where we will play an outstanding Eastern squad at 11 a.m. It should be an exciting day, and we look forward to seeing our fans there cheering us on!
