The MHS Braves’ Soccer season ended Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 loss in the Regional Finals to 2A defending State Champions – the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles. The Braves battled hard, but the Eagles controlled the game with precision passing, dominating the time of possession and limiting the Braves’ offensive attack. Holding Guerin’s quick moving offense to just 2 goals was no easy task, but Braves’ defenders and goalkeeper, Brody Kubly, put up a strong fight throughout the match. Coach Wilhelm said, “Once again, what a great effort by our boys. Guerin is at a different level than any other team we played this year, and our defensive line really came to play. Losing stinks but only losing by 2 to a team with that kind of talent shows us how good we are. I’m really proud of our boys and sad to see the season end.” Coach Sparks added, “Heck of a game by Brody. So proud of the whole team really – we have a great group of kids on and off the field and the coaching staff is blessed to be able to work with them throughout the year.” “MVPs of the Match” – Goalkeeper Brody Kubly and the defensive line rotation of Joel Loshnowsky, Levi Merrit, Colten Beebe, Gideon Pier, and Cohen Beebe. The defensive line held up well versus their biggest challenge of the year. When the ball made it through the line, Brody stopped nearly everything that came his way in what was, by far, his busiest match of the year. Also, the entire SENIOR class earns a spot here as they turned it on late in the season and made our post-season run possible. Although the end of the season is always hard, the Braves finished the year with an impressive 15-3-1 record, winning a share of the Three Rivers Conference Title, back-to-back Sectional Titles, and programs’ first ever regional game win. They outscored their opponents 62-12, winning 11 of their games by a margin of 2 goals or more. The Braves had 16 different players score goals this season, with 9 of them scoring more than 1 goal, 6 of them scoring 5 or more goals, and Joe Manueles leading the way with 16 goals. The team notched 36 assists from 12 different players, with 7 of them assisting on more than 1 goal, 3 of them assisting on 5 or more goals, and Luis Mendoza and Colton Beebe each having a team leading 7 assists a piece. Brody Kubly had a terrific year at goalkeeper, allowing just 11 goals in 20 games. Kubly and the strong defensive line protected Mac Stadium, allowing just 2 goals scored against the Braves at home all season. In their first two years of taking over the MHS soccer program, the coaching team of Head Coach Braxton Wilhelm, Assistant Coach Zachary Sparks and Assistant Coach Brent Touloukian continued the program’s recent successful stretch by achieving an overall record of 27-7-4, along with the aforementioned - 2 Sectional Titles, 1 TRC Championship, and a Regional Semi-Final victory. The 2026 MHS Braves Soccer team: SENIORS: Colton Beebe, Luis Mendoza, Joel Loshnowsky, Joe Manueles, Joel Bojorquez-Batista, Justin Acuna, and Ethan Lee JUNIORS: Brody Kubly and Darwin Aguiriano SOPHOMORES: Evan Zeiser, Jaxon Cole, Chase Million, Levi Merritt, Diego Midence-Soto, Kamarious Armstrong, and Caleb Barnett. FRESHMEN: Max Berryman, Gideon Pier, Cohen Beebe, Martin Chaires, Blaine Morgan, Conner Bullins, Diego Jimenez, Wyatt Lee, and Luca Pirrello. The Braves will lose 7 seniors who have been valuable to the team’s success over the course of their high school careers. Although the loss of this special senior class will force the team to fill some gaps, the Braves will move forward with an experienced group of young players as seven different underclassmen started games for the Braves throughout the season. Congrats to the 2026 MHS Braves Soccer Team on a very successful season! Thanks to the team, coaches, and fans for being a part of this special year. See you back next year, and as always, GO BRAVES!!!
