Lady Braves Season Ends With Sectional Loss to Eastern

By Jason Watson | Oct 18, 2026 11:12 PM

Maconaquah visited Rochester Saturday morning for a Sectional Semi-Final match against Eastern. The Lady Comets entered the match with a 24-4 record and were a formidable foe. The Lady Braves fought valiantly, but fell short in four sets (21-25, 25-22, 22-25, 17-25). The first set was a back and forth affair until Eastern pulled away at the end. Set two had us fall behind before storming back to take the set and even the match 1-1. Set three remained close before the Comets finished the set with consecutive strong plays. With our backs against the wall, our play became tentative in the fourth set, while Eastern continued to attack and take the fourth set and match. It was a tough loss against a quality opponent, and our girls left everything on the court. Setter Delaney Betzner passed out 42 assists, surpassing 2,000 assists in her career. She also dug up 19 balls and had three blocks. Kasey Murry downed 16 kills and dug up 12 balls on defense playing the OH position. Fellow OH Lucee Jernagan added 12 kills and seven digs on the match. Ireland Kile put down nine kills and 12 digs. Freshman Bailei Boggs added seven kills and three blocks playing in the middle. Aubrey Kaiser dug up 14 balls. Libero Naomi Cook tallied seven digs, and Ida Kiener saved four rallies playing back row for the Braves. The Braves finished the season with a 24-8 (8-1 TRC) record. This was the final match for seniors Delaney Betzner, Ireland Kile, Lucee Jernagan, Kasey Murry, and Aubrey Kaiser, as well as for international students Ida Kiener and Sara Gil-Bonnin. These young ladies had outstanding high school careers and had great developments as players and people. They will be terribly missed and we hope our underclassmen will learn from their hardwork, teamwork, and desire to improve. Our team competed hard every day and had lots of fun along the way. We continued to improve until the very end, and we will cherish these lessons and memories even after our playing days are over. Thanks to our families and fans for helping us have a great season.
