Monday evening the Lady Braves traveled to Kokomo County Club to play their first dual match of the season. It wasn’t always pretty as a few Braves struggled, but the Lady Braves were able to win the match 195 to 235. Leading the Lady Braves was Senior Daisy Williams who played steady as usual, scoring two birdies, two bogeys, and five pars. Her even par 36 was good enough to win match medalist honors. Sophomore Aubrey Stoll was second on the team and the match overall with a 44. Aubrey had two hiccups in which she played two holes in six over par, but she bounced back and played the other seven holes in over two over par. Senior Finley Dobbs hit the ball well off the tee, but found the sidehill lies a challenge. She ended the day with a 55. Sophomore Emma Bond had some issues off the tee which led to challenging second shots into the heavily sloped greens. Her final tally of 60 was a bit higher than she wanted, but fluctuations in scores occur with younger golfers. Sophomore Delaney Duke also as she also struggled off the tee. She carded a 61 as she seeks consistency in her long game. Her swing is excellent from a technical standpoint, she just is building trust in it. She finished with a 61. In Junior Varsity action, Junior Jade Christopher finished with a 67. Jade did well off the tee, but just struggled with the sloping greens. Two Freshman made their golfing debut at Ella Hoeksema and Delaney Farnham played their first competitive high school match. Ella was the low JV scorer overall with a 64. Her round was highlighted by a four on the eighth hole after her tee shot ended in some trees. Delaney finished with 71 as she played the difficult, and over water, sixth hole well. The Lady Braves are back in action Tuesday night against Southwood at Rock Hollow. As always, the Lady Braves appreciate the support of all the parents, friends, and family that attend each match.
