As any Scottish golfer will tell you if it’s “nae wind and nae rain, it’s nae golf” and that was certainly true for the Lady Braves at the Franklin Invitational. Wind and rain made the long The Legends course play even longer and more challenging for the elite field (five ranked teams were in the field). One golfer who excelled in the conditions was Senior Daisy Williams. She bounced back from a bogey on her first hole by reaching the par five second hole in two to make a two putt birdie. Bad breaks or bad bounces were followed up by smart recovery shots. After just missing a birdie putt on her 17th hole, she came back with a splendid tee shot on the 18th hole to twelve feet and birdied that hole. .Her five over par 77 was good enough to secure 6th place overall. Sophomore Aubrey Stoll continues to show the improvement she has made in the past 12 months. Last year at The Legends, in calmer conditions, Aubrey shot a 103. This year, in tougher conditions, Aubrey shot a 95. This score put in the up third of all scoring overall and it her second sub-100 round this season. Senior Finley Dobbs struggled off the tee on Saturday which impacted her scores. With the course playing as long it was, this made for a challenging day for Finley. Finley scrambled as best she could and finished with a respectable 109. Sophomore Delaney Duke, playing the challenging course for the first time, had moments of success early, but she struggled to finish as the long round (5+ hours) ended. Her score of 118 was good enough for fourth on the team. Fellow Sophomore Emma Bond suffered from the same issue as she started well but struggled to finish. Emma and Delaney being new to varsity golf are not quite use to playing 18 competitive holes each weekend. Emma finished the day with a 120. Overall the Lady Braves finished with a final score of 399 which placed them 11th in the 15 team field. As always the Lady Braves appreciate the support of all the parents, family members and friends that support the team each week. PHOTO: Daisy Willaims with her 6th place medal and the Lady Braves
