Senior Daisy Williams earned her third medalist honors of the night by shooting a two over par 38. Daisy started her round well with a birdied on the par 3 fourth hole and continued to play solid as the round progressed. She wasn’t happy with the 38, but chances are she will bounce back for the next match on Thursday with a score that is under par. It was a strong evening for the trio of “Super Sophomores” that play varsity for the Lady Braves. Aubrey Stoll’s hard work on the range and short game area paid off as she shot a career low 42. Aubrey has always driven the ball well, but improvement in her iron game has helped lower her scores. The other two sophomores, Delaney Duke and Emma Bond, both shot career low 51s. Emma got off to a rough start after having bunker trouble on her first hole, but bounced back and played well the rest of the way. Delaney Duke also had trouble on her first two holes, but then bogeyed the third hole and parred the fourth hole after her tee shot ended only 10 feet from the pin. From the fourth hole on, she played extremely well. Senior Finley Dobbs showed the grit that has made her a mainstay on varsity for the past three seasons. Finley had been fighting her swing for the past week, but is still able to manage good scores. Tuesday was no different as she played very will for seven holes, before her chipping failed her on her 8th and 9th hole. Despite the late struggle, she carded a 50 which was good enough for third overall on the evening. When the final scores were tallied, Maconaquah beat Oak Hill 181 to 215 for their third straight victory to open the season. In Junior Varsity action, only Junior Jade Christopher completed all nine holes and shot a 66. Jade’s long game was excellent, but she struggled with her short pitch shots. Freshman Ella Hoeksema shot 58 for 8 holes as she continues to improve with each outing. Freshman Delaney Farnham and Emma Morris played as well. Neither finished 9 holes, but continue to improve as the number of good shots are starting to out number the bad shots. The Lady Braves are back in action on Thursday at Whitko for a 5pm tee off. As always the Lady Braves appreciate the support of the parents, family and friends that come out and support the team each match.
