The only thing hotter than the weather on Wednesday night was the Lady Braves golf games. Playing Logansport Golf Club against Hamilton Heights and Lewis Cass, the Lady Braves scorched the course with a season low 9 hole score of 170, besting Hamilton Heights by 11 and Lewis Cass by 62. On the evening, 7 Braves shot new personal bests Leading the way for the Lady Braves was senior Daisy Williams. Daisy was two under par after four holes and you would think that would be the highlight of her round, but Daisy had other plans. On the par four eighth hole, Daisy hit a big drive and followed that up by holing her second shot for an eagle. Daisy didn’t miss a green all evening and finished with a school record 32. The 32 was also Daisy’s career low score for 9 holes. Fellow Senior Finley Dobbs has been working hard the past few weeks as her game hasn’t been up to her expectations. That hard work paid off Wednesday evening as she shot a personal best 43. Finley opened her match by hitting her first tee shot to 12 feet, but barely missed her birdie putt by mere inches. This excellent opening tee shot set the tone as she continued to strike the ball well and finished with a new personal best and fourth overall in the match. Sophomore Aubrey Stoll struggled off the tee, which is surprising as driving is usually her strength. It’s a credit to her mental game that she stil shot a 44 on the evening despite the issues off the tee. Aubrey stayed focused, planned out recovery shots, and relied on her putter to get her through the match. Fellow Sophomore Delaney Duke was feeling 100%, but she chose to play and grinded out a 51 that tied her personal best score. Delaney's long game has become impressive recently as she can hit the ball an extremely long distance off the tee and follow up with superb irons. As Delaney's short game improves, her scores will drop to the mid-40s. Sophomore Emma Bond almost didn’t play as she was in Logansport and her clubs were in Tipton after a miscommunication (Ie the coach messed up) but she got her clubs moments before the match started. She used her improved driving and iron play to also shoot a 51. Junior Jade Christopher was going to play varsity if Emma’s clubs didn’t arrive and was mentally prepared to do so. She ended up playing number one JV and she played well. Her finaly score of 62 was a personal best. Freshman Emma Morris, playing for JV, also shot a personal best as she broke sixty by having a final tally of 59. This was the first nine holes she has completed and the score of 59 is impressive and promising for her future. Fellow Freshman Delaney Farnham and Ella Hoeksema both completed nine holes and both shot 60. Delaney scored her first ever par after missing the green on the par 3 ninth hole, chipping onto the green and then making the putt. Ella’s long game is still a work in progress, but her short game and putting kept saving her from big numbers. All of the freshman have promising futures based on their scores and their work ethic. The Lady Braves are back in action this Saturday at the Rochester Invitational at Round Barn Golf Course As always the Lady Braves appreciate the support of the parents, family and friends that come out and support the team each match.
