On Tuesday night, the golfers that make up the Lady Braves golf team came close to upsetting the Rochester Zebras at Round Barn. Senior Daisy Williams led scoring for the Braves with a one over par 37, which was good enough for second place overall. Daisy, a state qualifier last year, played the match with Rochester’s two state qualifiers from last year (Ava Thomas and Olivia Bailey). Daisy’s round included a near eagle on the challenging 8th hole and a fantastic up and down on the par five 9th hole. Senior Finley Dobbs and Sophomore Aubrey Stoll were paired together and played together well. Finley opened up the match with a fantastic tee shot on the par 3 third hole and just missed her birdie putt. Finely, who played well at the end of the Rochester Invitational kept in going with a final total of 47. Aubrey Stoll, who also parred her first hole, bounced back from from a double bogey on her second hole to finish with a 45 which was good enough for fourth overall in the match. Sophomores Delaney Duke and Emma Bond were also paired together. Delaney Duke hit an outstanding shot on the difficult 8th hole when her second shot bounced just short and then rolled onto the green. This solid ball striking lead to her finishing with a career best 50. Emma Bond has been fighting her swing for a few weeks and unfortunately fought it again on Tuesday night. She finished with a 61. Overall the Lady Braves finished with a 179 while Rochester ended up with a 177. In Junior Varsity action the Lady Braves were led by Junior Jade Christopher who finished with 66, which was 4 better than she shot on Saturday on the same course. The Freshman trio of Emma Morris, Delaney Farnham and Elle Hoeksema struggled with the tigh fairways and water lined holes, but each finished the nine holes and all hit some very good shots. The Lady Braves are back in action Wednesday night versus Taylor on Senior night. As always, the Lady Braves appreciate the support of all the parents, family, and friends that come out and support the team each night. PHOTOS: Aubrey Stoll prepares to tee off on the 9th Hole.
