On Wednesday night the Lady Braves honored Seniors Finely Dobbs and Daisy Williams by winning their match over the Taylor Titans. Each Lady Brave had a caddy assisting them as part of the senior night festivities Senior Daisy Williams earned her 7th medalist honors of the season by carding a one over par 37. While a score close to par is not unusual for Daisy, the fact that she did it while also losing four balls during her round is impressive. Daisy struggled on the long 7th hole after her tee shot took a bad bounce and went into the water which lead to a double bogey. She bounced by on her last hole (number one at Rock Hollow) by hitting her 7 wood onto the green and two putting from 60 feet for birdie. Sophomore Aubrey Stoll was second in scoring for the team with a 45. Aubrey did not have the the best ball striking night, but found a way to score. Her round was highlighted by a birdied on the challenging par 5 sixth hole. Her 45 was good enough for second place in the match. Senior Finley Dobbs was third in scoring with a 48. Finely’s round got off to a challenging start after her drive on her first hole landed in a fairway bunker and she struggled on her second and third hole. After that, she bounced back to play steady golf the rest of the way. Her 48 was good enough to secure third in the match. Sophomore Delaney Duke finished with a a 50 on the night. Delaney’s game gets better with each and every match and her 50 tied her personal best score. Delaney’s driving has improved as has her iron play. As she continues to work on her short game, she should consistently break 50. Junior Jade Christopher was fifth on the team in scoring with a 66. Jade hit a wonderful tee shot to the fourth hole and made par, a rarity on the night with its front center pin position. Sophomore Emma Bond did not have a score due to a scorecard mishap, but she played with focus the entire match. Freshman Ella Hoeksema and Delaney Farhham got to play seven holes and played well. Both hit some fantastic drives and made some nice putts. The Lady Braves won the match 181 to no score for Taylor as they only had three golfers. Despite being a very young program, the Taylor Titans represented themselves well by hitting a well struck shots and putting forth great effort on each and every shot. A well deserved thank you to the Taylor Coach, Matt Phalen, for agreeing to the use of caddies for Senior Night. The Lady Braves are back in action on September 11th at Rock Hollow versus Peru and Logansport. The Lady Braves appreciate the support of all the parents, family and friends that come out and support the team each match. A very big thank you to the parents, siblings and uncles who caddied for the Lady Braves last night. PHOTO: Senior Daisy Willaims with her caddie/father Tommy Williams.
