The Maconaquah Boys Soccer team played Rochester in the 2nd game of the girl's/boy's double header and came home victorious. The Braves controlled the ball well and put constant pressure on the Zebra goalie with 16 shots on goal vs 3 for the home team. The scoring started early for Maconaquah when Colton Beebe scored a clean up goal with the ball bouncing around the Zebra goal area just 7 minutes into the game. Goal 2 came with 11 minutes left in the half when Kevin Nord played a great thru ball to a waiting Garret McManus who found the back of the net. With 5 minutes left in the first half, McManus secured the assist to Bennett Isenburg who played it perfectly. The Braves got a little complacent in the last minute of the first half and allowed a Rochester player to collect a bouncing ball in the Maconaquah goal box and then squeezed it in past Goalkeeper Brody Kubly and making the score 3-1. The second half started a little more evenly until 15 minutes in. Colton Beebe put a laser of a shot from nearly 40 yards out that cleared the outstretched arms of the goalie but snuck under the crossbar. The lead increased to 5-1 with 15 minutes left when freshman Darwin Aguiriano played a great thru ball to Spanish foreign exchange player Carlos Gallardo who found the back of the net. The final goal, making it 6-1, came with 9 minutes left when Beebe played a great ball to a waiting Garret McManus for his 2nd goal of the day. Overall, the team played very unselfish and looked for passes to setup their teammates. The Braves are now 9-3-1 on the season and have a few days off before taking on Tipton at home on Thursday. The Braves remaining 3 regular season games are at home. Then Maconaquah will also host sectionals, giving the potential for the Braves to play 6 in a row in front of their home crowd.
