The Maconaquah Boy's soccer team played TRC foe Manchester on Monday Sept 30th and came away with the win. The scoring for the Braves stared early with a first minute goal. Bennett Isenburg deflected a squire defenders pass then fed Colton Beebe on a thru ball run. Colton took a shot on the goal, but the Manchester goalie got a hand on it deflecting it to the side. Video is not clear if the ball would have found the net, but Kaden Hanson didn't allow the risk and put the ball in the back of the net from a foot away. The Braves carried the 1 goal lead all the way until 7 minutes left in the game when Isenburg found Kevin Nord on a similar run. Kevin's left footed shot near the goal was strong enough that the Manchester goalie didn't have time to gather it after it hit him in the chest and bounced in. With this win, the Braves are now 11-3-1 on the season, but in 2nd place to Northwestern in the TRC. Maconaquah is now rooting for Manchester on Wednesday when they face Northwestern. If the squires win, and Maconaquah can defeat Peru on the same day, there would be a 3 - way tie for the TRC championship.
