"Cookie Cup" stays at Maconaquah

This year was the 8th year for the "Cookie Cup". It was started by Maconaquah coach PJ Hatcher and Eastern coach Andy Steele. There is a traveling trophy and after the game each team shares Christmas cookies with each other. The first three years, Eastern held on to the "Cookie Cup" and Maconaquah has won the past five years to take a 5-3 lead in the series. In this years game, the Lady Braves were not just sharing cookies but sharing the ball between each other to account for 22 assist on the game. This is the 2nd most assist in a game. The most came back on January 29, 2020 against Frankfort in which the Lady Braves had 25 assist. Leading the team in assist today was Aubrey Stoll who 6 assist in 17 minutes of play, and Addie Maiben, Kasey Murry and Delaney Betzner all had 4 assist a piece in the game. In the shooting stats, the Lady Braves were 17 for 29 from inside the arch for their season best 2FG% of 59% and were 9-19 from behind the arch for also a season best of 47%. Addie Maiben was 4 out 5 from behind the arch to lead the Lady Braves in the 3 point stats. And Aubrey Stoll was 4 for 5 from inside the arch for 80% Ireland Kile was 5-11 combine FG and Delaney Betzner was 6 for 10 from the field. The Lady Braves had four players in double figure scoring being led by Ireland Kile with 18, Addie Maiben and Delaney Betzner both had 14 points and Aubrey Stoll had 10 points. Also scoring was Aubrey Kaiser who 5 points, Averie Maiben and Emily Bryant had 4 points and Kasey Murry had 2 points. In other stats, Aubrey Kaiser record her first double digit rebounds with 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Aubrey Stoll also had 5 steals and Ireland Kile had 3 steals. Eleanor Boshears came off the bench and had 2 assist. The next game for the Lady Braves is this Tuesday, December 10 against Oak Hill who is 8-1 on the season. Tuesday night is also "Staff Appreciation" night and the players will be honoring someone that has made an impact on them some time in their educational career. Gane time is set for 6:30 (varsity only).
