Varsity vs Logansport High School (89 - 66) Win Coach Burrus Quotes: "It was a great game for us going into the County Tournament. Logan is an improving team. We held their top 3 point shooter to zero attempts. Clem, down low really hurt us in the first half. We challenged Fuddy to deny him in the 2nd half. He held him to just 2 points. Josiah Ball and AJ Kelly continue to lead us in scoring. Ball had 35, and AJ had 27. I really liked how they both attacked the basket. With the size Logan has down low it is hard to get a lot of space but those two made Logan guard thm in bunches which opened up some things for the other guy. Ball had some big blocks down low, too. AJ and Fuddy both had 6 steals which really keyed our offense. Landon Adams hit 2 big 3's for us. Nate Rader provided 10 points off the bench. Caiden Richards battled for 5 rebounds off the bench. Devon Murry continued his toughness on defense. He has really improved that part of his game. We were giving up a lot of size in this game but our philosophy was to get the game into 84 feet on both ends. Was it a little wild? Yes. But, I was confident our kids would be able to run for 32 minutes. I thought Logan battled us. We just stayed the course and finished strong. I wanted to talk about Josiah Ball, AJ Kelly, and Fuddy Kile this week. These three guys have contributed so much to our program. I have coached these guys now for three years. One thing I will always remember about these 3 guys was their committment in the offseason. They have came every year to 99% of the workouts, open gyms, league play, shootouts, Purdue Tournament, and anything else we would be doing. Beyond their ability to play, they are all great kids from tremendous families. The leadership of being at all these offseason events is a big part of their success. We have had a lot of fun over these years coaching these three guys. I have a lot of faith in them and what they can accomplish. They are all going to do some great things beyond here at Mac. Take Fuddy Kile. We performed a Christmas song in my Current Issues class last week in front of a couple hundred Maconaquah students. Who was really into it? Fuddy Kile. He was a major singer in that group. Fuddy is playing out of position at center but is making up for it with his quickness, and athleticism. Fuddy will battle anybody. He plays without fear. I count on Fuddy to make big plays on both ends. He has had some incedible blocks this year. AJ Kelly has amazed me with all he can do on a basketball court. I have been blessed with some really good guards but AJ Kelly is one of the best I have coached. He is relentless to go with his ability. He has taken his game to another level this season. AJ has played with different guards every year. Bauer Maple-2022-23, Kaden Miller-2023-24, Landon Adams-2024-25. AJ has been the constant. With Bauer, he was the compliment. The last two years he has raised his game. He has gotten better, every year. That is a credit to AJ. Josiah Ball has rewrote the record books at Maconaquah. He has been a player we all rely on for his scoring. One thing I think about Ball he is just looking for opportunities to play basketball. We have tried to put him inthe position to show what he can do. Think about going into every game and the opposition is going to do everything they can to stop Ball. He still will put up around 30. Just incredible. He is probably playing somewhere right now as I write this. He loves to play basketball. I will focus on other players on other writings but this week I wanted to talk about these three guys. It has went fast. These guys have contributed so much to Maconaquah. They aren't done, yet. See you at the County."
