Lady Braves loses tough game in OT

Tonight, in the Miami County Tournament championship game, the Lady Braves came up short in overtime with a 51-45 loss to Peru. The first quarter saw both teams come out and try to establish their defense but it was the offense for both that took advantage of each other’s miscues on defense. Lady Braves scored 12 pts. in the quarter, getting points from 4 different players but Peru scored 13 in that quarter to take a 13-12 advantage into the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Lady Braves got point against from 4 different players and started to get some stops on defense to help outscore Peru 12-8 in the quarter to take a 24-21 lead at halftime. In the 3rd quarter, Ireland Kile started to take control on the offensive end of the court scoring 8 of her game high 22 points to help the Lady Braves stay with Peru's 10 points and the margin stayed the same going into the final quarter, Lady Braves 34-31. The 4th quarter saw the Lady Braves take 6 points lead midway through the quarter but Peru hit a 3 pt shot with about 5 seconds left to tie the game and send it into overtime. In the overtime, the Lady Braves held Peru from scoring any field goals but they went 8-10 from the free-throw line to pull head for the win. The coaching staff is proud of the players for their hard fought effort tonight and wanted to thank all the Braves fans that showed your support to these young ladies.
