Varsity vs Taylor High School (57 - 60) Loss Coach Burrus Quotes:" We lost a tough game at Taylor on Wednesday night. We appreciate everyone that came and supported our team. Taylor had a guard come back that had not been playing because of injury. I thought he was a big key for them(#4). We did not shoot well at really any point in the game. That really hurt us. We shot 36% for the game. We did have some positives. I felt AJ Kelly was really good in guarding #12, Harris, who is probably the best rebounder we will see. He only had 11 points and two offensive rebounds. AJ always finds a way to help us on both ends of the floor. Josiah Ball and Fuddy Kile both rebounded well. Ball also got to his average of 31 points. Harris played him tough and Josiah worked hard for those points. Devon Murry had 4 steals and played very good defense. Fuddy Kile changed several shots and blocked 4 shots. Landon Adams did a good job out front in our defense. He also hit a big 3 to keep us in the game. We play Tipton on Friday night. They will be a big challenge for us. We will have to play a very good game to beat Tipton. They are coached by a friend of mine, Cliff Hawkins. He is closing in on 600 wins as a coach. I mention Cliff because he has been dealing with kidney issues for a few years. He is on dialysis and still makes coaching his team a priority. Cliff is on a donor list to receive a new kidney. I have learned a lot from Cliff Hawkins. I have learned a lot about coaching from Cliff. However, I have also learned a lot watching him handle the adversity of going through kidney failure. Cliff is an inspiration to me. As we play Tipton, remember Cliff and understand he is a basketball legend in Indiana. He coached Luke Recker at Dekalb. Cliff has been at Center Grove, Madison, North Miami, and some other stops through his career. Tipton has one of the states best in Grady Carpenter. He will be playing at Grace next year. See you Friday." Ball 31pts 8reb 1ast 2st Kelly 13pts 5reb 3ast 2st Kile 5pts 10reb 2ast 4bl Murry 5pts 3reb 1ast 4st Adams, L. 3pts 1reb 1st Richards 1reb
