The 7/8 grade boy's basketball teams traveled up to Whitko Wednesday night and picked up a pair of wins against their conference opponent. The 7th grade boys showed grit and determination after being down 23-17 after 3 quarters. The boys doubled their score from the first 3 quarters, scoring another 17 points in the 4th quarter on their way to a comeback victory. The Braves were able to close out the game with Martin Chaires and Jackson Betzner going 4 of 4 from the free throw line after back to back fouls by Whitko. Scoring for the 7th grade: Gideon Pier (10 points), Martin Chaires (8 points), Jackson Betzner (7 points), Layne Miller (6 points), and Wyatt Troyer (2 points). With a final score of 34-28, the 7th grade Braves move to 6-5 on the season. The 8th grade boys won by a wider margin, maintaining an unblemished record in conference play (48-25). It didn't take long to knock off the Christmas break rust with the Braves shooting at or above 50% from behind the 3 point arc for the third time this season. The Braves leading scorer of the night, Levi Merritt, seems to enjoy the matchup with the Wildcats - last year after he scored 22 points against the Cats, followed by 20 points against them this year. Scoring for the 8th grade: Levi Merritt (20 points), Tre Rader (7 points), Jaxon Cole (7 points), Brayden Stamper (6 points), Evan Zeiser (4 points), Kaysin Workman (2 points) and Colt Myers (2 points). The 8th grade move to 10-1 on the season. The 7/8 grade Braves return to action next week with 3 conference match ups. Monday at Southwood, Wednesday and Thursday at MMS. Come catch a game!
