Maconaquah Schools

The 7/8 grade boys battled another conference opponent, hosting the Manchester Squires on Wednesday night. The 7th grade fell to a very good Manchester team 36-26. They started out fast with a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter but were outscored 17-2 in the 2nd quarter to trail 25-12 at half. The Braves did win the 2nd half 14-13, but the bad 2nd quarter was too much to overcome. The 7th grade Braves were lead in scoring by Martin Chaires and Gideon Pier with 6, Layne Miller and Wyatt Troyer with 4, and Jackson Betzner, Braxton Allen, and Colt Johnson with 2 a piece. The 8th grade Braves used their athleticism, speed, and defensive tenacity to overwhelm the Squires, starting the game on a 30-1 run. They continued the game focused on maximum defensive effort while playing with a good rotation of players. The final score was 64-24. Scoring for the 8th grade: Tre Rader (22 points), Levi Merritt (13 points), Jaxon Cole (10 points), Brayden Stamper (8 points), Bentley Miller (4 points), Evan Zeiser (3 points), Colt Myers (2 points), and Abel Robison (2 points). The 7/8 Braves host Lewis Cass on Thursday (1/16) at MMS.
