Maconaquah Schools

Last night the Lady Braves needed 8 made 3FG to tie the school record for team 3FGM in a season. They made 9 in a 56-45 win over Western, the first win at Western since the 2007-08 season. The Lady Braves started the game out by winning the 1st quarter 15-6, getting scoring from four different players. Ireland Kile and Delaney Betzner both had 5 points in the quarter. Addie Maiben hit a 3FG and Aubrey Kasier had 2 points. The Lady Braves did a nice job on the boards that quarter also, out rebounding the Panthers 10-7. In the 2nd Quarter, the Lady Braves hit four of their nine 3FG's to take a26-14 lead into halftime. Delaney Betzner hit two 3FG, Averie Maiben hit one of her two 3FG. At halftime, the Lady Braves knew that Western was going to try and get the inside game established with their leading scorer Ellyse Walden. She scores 17 points for the game and had 11 of her points in the 2nd half. For the Lady Braves in that quarter, they got scoring from four different players to keep the lead going into the fourth quarter, 39-28. In the 4th quarter, the Lady Braves like to make things interesting but put together a great effort from the free throw line in that quarter going 9-10 from the line. Western cut the lead to three-point s at one point but free throws from Aubrey Stoll and then a steal by Stoll put the Lady Brave up seven points under 2 minutes to go. For the game the Lady Braves were 9-26 (35%) from behind the arch. With the 9 made 3FG that put's the Lady Braves at 118 M3FG for the season, one a head of last season's school record for made 3FG. Aubrey Kaiser and Kasey Murry did an outstanding job on defense holding Western's Sharp shooter, Ella Rawlings to zero 3FG's for the game. She had been averaging three 3MFG a game and shooting over 34% on the season.
