7/8BBB Drop a Pair of Games vs Oak Hill
By Jonathan Cole | Jan 24, 2025 10:57 AM
The 7/8 grade Braves went 0-2 on the night against two very talented Oak Hill teams. The 7th grade fell to the Eagles 53-37. They moved the ball well, created open shots for teammates and were able to get to the line 18 times - but only converted on 6. They struggled to stop Oak Hill defensively as the Eagles length and athleticism were keys to their victory. The Braves have to do a better job with "on the ball" defense as well as closing gaps in "help side" defense moving forward. The 7th grade was led in scoring by Martin Chaires with 10, Wyatt Troyer 9, Jackson Betzner 6, Gideon Pier 4, Braxtyn Allen and Braxton Manriquez 3 a piece and Layne Miller with 2. The 8th grade boys suffered their 2nd loss of the season against the best team they will face all year. They came in with a plan and executed it fairly well for the most part, but Oak Hill's experience and highly talented players proved too much for us to handle. After an overall frustrating game, the Braves' spirits stayed high in the post-game discussion and they are ready for the two upcoming tournaments. Scoring for the 8th grade: Jaxon Cole (7 points), Brayden Stamper (4 points), Colt Myers (3 points), and Levi Merritt (2 points). Maconaquah will host the 4 team "Mac Invite" tournament on Saturday (1/25) with both teams starting the day versus Tri Central at 9 am. (All games at MMS)
