Mac 8th Grade Boys Win Back to Back RRC Titles, 7th Grade Fall in the Semi-Finals

The 7/8 BBB teams took the court for the last time for the season in the Final 4 of the RRC tournament today. The 7th grade lost a tough game in their semi-final matchup, while the 8th grade was able to win both of their games - securing back to back RRC Titles. The 7th grade finished their season with an overall record of 10-9 with a close loss to the Wabash Apaches in their semi-final game. The Braves fell behind early in the game, trailing 11-3 after the 1st quarter and 23-11 at halftime. The boys were able to battle back in the 2nd half and trailed 28-26 after 3. They continued to fight, gaining the lead a few times in the 4th quarter but couldn't finish on top. The Braves were led in scoring by Martin Chaires and Wyatt Troyer with 9, Gideon Pier 6, Jackson Betzner 5 and Layne Miller with 3. In the 8th grade semi-final game, the Braves had to make a comeback after being down 8 points in the 2nd quarter due to some outside sharp shooting by the Apaches. The boy's second quarter scoring surge led them into the locker room with a 2 point half time lead. The surge continued into the 2nd half when the Braves picked up their defensive intensity and outscored Wabash 28-11, closing out the game with a 52-33 victory. Scoring for the 8th grade in the semi-final game: Jaxon Cole (27 points), Levi Merritt (16 points), Evan Zeiser (5 points), Colt Myers (3 points), and Brayden Stamper (1 points). In the championship game, the Braves faced an athletic Northfield team that stuck around for the duration of the game. The low scoring, competitive matchup was tied after the 1st, a 4 point game at half, a 1 point game after the 3rd, with the Braves pulling away in the last few minutes to win by 6, 37-31. Scoring for the 8th grade in the championship game: Levi Merritt (11 points), Evan Zeiser (9 points), Brayden Stamper (7 points), Colt Myers (7 points), and Jaxon Cole (3 points). The 8th grade finish their season with an overall record of 18-2, a conference record of 9-0, and back to back RRC Titles!!
