Maconaquah 88 Logan 77 Coach Burrus Quotes: "Sectional Champs!!! What a week it has been. Three huge games. Our kids controlled all three games. With a senior group that is our starting lineup we really stressed this week how their career was hinging on every win. Our kids were very determined to win this sectional. I thought our kids played three totally different games to win the sectional. The Western game was a defensive struggle where we had a big second quarter and then played great defense to win this game. Western had a great year. We did a great job making it hard to score. We took care of the ball in the 4th and got some good shots, late. Friday, we played Northwestern. They were coming off beating tournament favorite West Lafayette. We came out and were very aggressive on defense. Getting the early lead was big in this game. The Northwestern game was played at a quick pace. We played great down the stretch of the game. The final against Logan was a game where both teams just played wide open. We knew Logan would match our style of play. We had a nice stretch before halftime where we got the lead up to 18 at halftime. One thing the kids have done this year is play better with a lead. The 4th quarter was where I felt our team showed our development. We got layups and shot free throws. Logan played well, but our team stayed after it and really played smart to finish the game. Josiah Ball scored 30 and really was a leader for us.He showed how great a scorer he really is. He also played three quarters with three fouls. That was not in the game plan. AJ Kelly shot an unreal percentage throughout the sectional. He defended everyone at some point. AJ was determined to get this done. Fuddy Kile did it all. He scored, rebounded, blocked, and defended throughout this sectional. Devon Murry had a season high of 23pts against Logan. Murry made all kinds of plays. He really helped our press the last two games. Landon Adams had a very good sectional. He had 7 assists in the sectional final. The bench was ready and those guys did a nice job moving the ball to end the championship game. What a feeling for all of us. We all won it. Everybody was part of this win. Including the Mac fans!!! Now, it is on to the Regional. We play Marion, at Lapel, Saturday at 7pm. Thank you for all coming out, all week. We had by far, the biggest crowds at the sectional. It was great to feel the support. On the floor, it was loud and had an impact on the game. Mac Nation made it's presence known at Logan. Our team really appreciated the efforts you made to get behind our team. Again, we were all part of this sectional win!!!"
