After opening the season with a team score of 473, the Lady Braves proved how much improvement they had made over the course of the season as they finished with a 429 at the Western Sectional. Their final tally was good enough for 5th place in the 10-team field. Leading the Lady Braves, as she has done all season, was junior Aubrey Stoll. Aubrey had a very up-and-down round, mixing good shots with bad breaks. She was able to keep a level head and not let the bad breaks bother her too much. With a goal of making regionals for the third straight time, the All-Conference award winner buckled down and parred the last three holes, getting up and down each time. Her final tally of 87 earned her third place overall and a spot in this weekend’s regional at Battleground. Junior Delaney Duke also played steady golf, with nine-hole scores of 53 and 50 for a career-best 103 over 18 holes. Delaney had been fighting her swing the past few weeks, and her final score was a testament to her mental fortitude. Sophomore Delaney Farnham saved her best nine of the season for the front nine at Chippendale. She shot a career-best 51 on the front nine, punctuated by a long drive on the ninth hole that nearly reached the green. The heat affected her as she was unable to keep the great round going, but her final tally of 111 is a career 18-hole low. Senior Jade Christopher, playing in her final golf match, was very consistent in shooting a 128. She carded a 62 on the front and 66 on the back. Jade played steady on the front, but as the round wore on, she struggled to maintain that level of play. Freshman Brina Smith, playing in her first sectional, started strong and stayed steady despite some discomfort in her left shoulder. Her 133 was a solid performance for a first-time sectional participant. The Lady Braves as a whole saw their season come to an end with a very solid 5th-place finish at sectionals. Junior Aubrey Stoll will be participating in her third straight regional this Saturday at Battleground, teeing off at 9:24 a.m. As always, the Lady Braves appreciate the support from parents, family, and friends who come out and cheer on the team.
