The Lady Braves competed like mad but fell short to West Lafayette in the sectional championship match in three sets. We were leading the first set 17-14 before giving up a service run and dropping the set 18-25. The second set was competitive with some long rallies but the Red Devils were too much as we lost 15-25. The final set saw us run out of gas before losing 13-25 to end the season. We put up a good fight and feel that West Lafayette won the match with good play as opposed to us the losing the match. Libero Addie Maiben posted 16 digs to lead the Maconaquah defense against a strong Red Devils attack Averie Maiben had 11 digs and Delaney Betzner added 10 digs from the setters position. Ireland Kile dug up seven balls from the back row. Kasey Murry had a highly efficient night at the net with 12 kills and only one error. Nekane Hernandez put down six kills and Ireland Kile added four kills. Lacey Ramos led us in blocks with three after an admirable effort playing a different position. Delaney Betzner passed out 10 assists and Averie Maiben dished eights dimes in her final match . The Braves finish the year with a 23-9 record and a 6-3 conference record. We were able to win a couple of in season tournaments and runner up in another. Along with the winning we made lots of good memories and learned many life lessons that will help our students athletes for many years to come. Thanks for all of the support from our families, fans, administration, and support staff. We are very thankful we get to represent Maconaquah high school! The Seniors have had a great run and will be sorely missed. Our underclassmen will get better and be back next year. Go Braves!
